What does ‘Being Present’ really means? 3-Step Process to Reach Your Happiest Self by Being Present in Any Circumstances

Being present... The essence of all spiritual teachings. One of the ultimate goals of reaching spiritual maturity. What the self-help industry evolves around; being present and ending all the suffering... Easier said than done.

But when real-life hits, how should I be more present and stay happy, for example, when I am pissed off with the taxi driver who is taking the longer route? It seems impossible not to think about yesterday’s meeting and how my boss didn’t allow me to express myself. How can I be in the present moment and live happily with the fact that my desire to move to a bigger house is nowhere near yet?

In this article, we'll talk about a 3-step process to reach your happiest self by bringing immediate presence to your now moment no matter what your current situation is.

Before we get into it, here is one little disclaimer :) 

Even if it feels satisfying to our ego to feel that it is special and our situation with our boss, our spouse, the taxi driver, things that we want to manifest are special, in essence, every and any situation is the same in terms of energy vibration. The circumstances in life might look very diverse, yet they could all be classified in a very simple way; things are either wanted or unwanted, closer to the vibration of well-being or further from it, making you feel upset, angry, sad, or make you feel at ease, joyous and relaxed. 

I don't say this to overlook your current life problem, but this perspective makes them easier to be dealt with for sure.

So with that being said, here is the 3-step process to reach your happiest self by bringing immediate presence, immediate relief, and as a result, immediate resolutions to your now moment no matter what your "special" situation is :)

 

1- Drop it

 Well, yes, just drop it :)

Just drop whatever feelings you may have at that moment if it doesn't feel good to you.

"Drop as you drop a hot coal that you are holding in your hand," as Eckhart Tolle says in The Power of Now.

This analogy and similar analogies in energy work always help me. 

Most of the time, we make things complicated by trying to figure out every detail of what happened, the root cause of it, and, more importantly, how we could resolve them. But in reality, solving a problem, first and foremost, starts with the simple intention of shifting energies from the energy of the problem to the energy of the solution and nothing else. 

🤎 First, it takes a decision that you want to feel relief - the opposite of all the feelings that we associate with the problem. 

The vibration of the problem and the vibration of the solution are complete opposites to each other.

Unfortunately, many people, even if they could swear that they want problems to be out of their face, energetically, they still vibrate at the same frequency as the problem rather than switching to the vibration of the solution. Simply, we keep our focus on the problem, we allow ourselves to be dragged into the depths of the gloomy feelings of how the problem makes us feel, and how badly and why we don't want what we don't want :) A great effort to help the problem to stick around a little bit more until we free our focus from it and lock it onto the solution. 

Remember, what you resist persists. What you put your focus on expands. 

🤎 Second, know that when you imagine that your problems are being lifted from your energy field, they really do. 

Energy moves the fastest. It moves faster than your ability to carve a logical path to your solutions in your mind.

 You just ask for wellness, and the energy, the Universe, the God, and the Universal forces answer back, "So be it." 

Start entertaining the solution, and how it would make you feel rather than how miserable you feel right now, as the solution is not here just yet.

Everything you want is already a done deal and present in "the field" and waiting for you to claim them by reaching the same vibrational frequency as they hold.

This is why being able to "be in the present moment" is so important. If everything you want is already done and present, then where are you right now?

Are you struggling? Are you waiting for it around? Are you pushing against it? Are you running after it? Are you busy with everything but being in the present moment, which is the only thing that is required to allow your state to rise to its natural vibrational set point, aka the frequency of the solution?

Picture an infant in front of your eyes now; cheerful, playful, and happy the majority of the time. Similarly, our natural state (our natural vibrational set point) is well-being, higher frequencies, and a more relaxed, happier, and joyous state. Like a current in the water. We either allow it to flow naturally (without interfering with its natural way of flowing) or block it by allowing ourselves to be caught up in negative thought patterns more than necessary. 

So meaning, if we allow ourselves just to be in the present moment with the less possible judgment that either what is happening is good or bad but allow life to unfold in whatever shape and form for us, we can naturally and easily feel the magic and ease in our day-to-day life and moment-to-moment presence. Once we get into that state, our natural vibrational set point would be accomplished, and the solutions and desires will naturally follow after that as they all are high vibrational concepts.

This doesn't mean that we have to be the victim of the negative circumstances of our lives and not dream of a better future. But what I am saying is, you cannot get to that bright future until you learn how to deal with your now moment peacefully. 

I want to open a small parenthesis here;

Sometimes, negative feelings act sneakier than you are used to them and might make things harder for you to point out. In those moments, even if you could not name them, just be aware that you're not feeling in your natural state - how you feel does not feel good to you. Realize that you feel angry, and without thinking anything further (how am I going to get out of this situation, etc.), just drop the anger. You don’t have to think about a solution to your problem in that red hot minute. You just have to realize that there would be nothing wrong in the present moment if you wouldn’t feel the anger.

Most of the time, the reason we are stuck in disturbing feelings is that we forgot our natural state of well-being. We deeply associate ourselves with negative feelings. But actually, it is just a temporary situation that we feel at that moment, it is not who we are. If we can observe ourselves and our feeling from afar, then we can separate those two from one another. Even making a small change in defining ourselves in those moments can make huge differences in how we feel. Next time, instead of saying, I am angry, try saying I feel angry. So, when the feeling has gone, there will be no one being angry anymore.

 

2- Come back to your "Now Moment" over and over again

Once you sharpen your awareness in such a way that no feeling could escape from you without being unnoticed, then make it a habit of coming back to what you are doing in the now moment and remember your natural state of being is joy, well-being, ease, and peace.  

Most of the time, our feelings become like clouds covering our present moment and blocking us from focusing on what we are doing in the now moment; be it a conversation with a loved one who is asking for our gentle presence with them, clothes waiting to be folded, or an e-mail we have to focus on and send it to a business associate.  

When we allow those clouds to run our now moments, we cannot see the real beauty of what we have at hand. We cannot enjoy the moment, and so we look for every opportunity in our heads to escape from it to somewhere else, somewhere brighter without the clouds, maybe :)

However, there is no sun over there if we could not find it over here where we are. 

A path to every desired reality we would like to live is paved by the now moments we have now. 

Without making peace with our NOW reality, we could not magically manifest anything in the FUTURE.

 

3- Be the deliberate creator of your own reality 

Procrastination does not only govern our behaviors, but it can also affect our thoughts and feelings.

We resist thinking certain thoughts and feeling certain feelings. It is just like having a healthy habit of exercising every morning and feeling uneasy on the days that you skip heading to the gym.

Every time you react and get angry, sad, or irritated about a situation, it creates a thought and action pattern in your life to be repeated over and over again in similar situations.

Even though you know that some habits are not productive as going to the gym, you may still feel uneasy when you don’t feel the sadness any time you had a quarrel with your spouse. Hard to believe, yet the reason for that is because this is the only way you know how to be and react in these types of situations (Living your life unconscious and on autopilot). You feel familiar with the sadness. This is your ego trying to keep you under control. Who knows, if you feel neutral about a quarrel, then you may take action to go out and explore new coffee shops in your neighborhood. However, our ego doesn’t like surprises. That’s why it wants us to be self-critical and stay at home after an argument to keep us under control.

Stop being lazy for not taking action to break the habit of thinking about certain feelings knowing that they are not productive. Next time when you feel sad, stop reaching out to your friends and talking about the same issue over and over again on the phone. Stop delaying your important duties when you feel down. Do not allow the clouds to cover up your present reality and make it look gloomier than it really is. Do not procrastinate, and take action to break the old patterns. Do something different this time which will empower you.

Remember that your natural state is well-being and joy. And anything and everything you want to create, you can, but the only prerequisite for that is to beat the clouds that are trying to cloud your present moment with peace.

Once you find your balance and keep yourself vibrating at your natural state the majority of the time, then you can use any negative feelings as leverage and step on them to reach for where you want to go. 

Next time when you feel anything further from well-being, joy, peace, etc., remember those 3 steps and make a change!
